Palm Springs

Palm Springs has a year-round average daytime temperature of 87 degrees, and prides itself on having 344 humidity-free days of sunshine annually. We enjoyed the beautiful clear skies and sunny weather, however, the unseasonally cool weather caught us off guard during our November visit with daily temperatures from 34-65.

The Joshua Tree National Park lies 140 miles east of Los Angles. The famous San Andreas Fault bounds the south side of the park. Beautiful desert landscape everywhere!

The Yucca Valley Windmill Farm has more than 4,000 wind mills that generate electricity for homes and businesses in the desert area. Some windmills are 150 feet tall, armed with blades half the length of a football field.

Palm Springs Aerial Tramway starts at the floor of the Sonoran Desert and travels 2.5 miles to an elevation of 8,516 feet to an alpine wilderness area. At the top is Mt. San Jacinto State Park with over 54 miles of hiking trails.

We also visited Indio, a date farm, Salton Sea and the Living Desert Zoo.
